100 Women artists at the center

I propose a challenge to all art educators in the United States (and other places as well) to teach only women from my list for one year in their professional practice.

I present this challenge for many reasons but mainly to expand art educator thinking and practice beyond a western, patriarchy-based practices. Engaging with the works of 100 Women Artists At the Center will open a space for art educators and allow more opportunities to connect with students who are often predominantly female, normalize the female perspective and positionality, and make all art educators more well-rounded and knowledgeable.

Will you take the challenge?

The list is organized by Artist–COUNTY, media

This list is a strong springboard to transform the learning and/or teaching practice of any educator but is designed for the art educator. Of course, this is by no means a complete list, but it is a great starting point for those not knowing any or many women artists from around the globe to visually invite into the classroom. This list holds not only influential women from the globe but some of my favorites who may be lesser known.
